Your boiler’s pressure gauge speaks volumes about its health. Low pressure can result in insufficient heat or no heat at all, typically caused by a water leak or a system that hasn’t been topped up. On the flip side, if the pressure is too high, it could lead to stress on the boiler’s components. Both are situations that call for professional attention.

Strange Noises

Boilers aren’t meant to be entirely silent, but if yours starts making banging, whistling, or gurgling sounds, don’t ignore it. These noises could indicate air trapped in the system, mineral buildup on the heat exchanger, or even a failing pump. Check the pressure: Most systems should maintain a pressure level between 1 and 2.5 bars. If the pressure drops or soars out of that range, it’s time for an adjustment.
Keep the area around the boiler clear: A boiler needs breathing room to operate safely. Don’t store items like cleaning supplies, tools, or any flammable materials near or on top of the boiler. This reduces the risk of damage or fire hazards.
